Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This policy covers Longevity Food Lab and this website, both operated by Clearwater Road Studios, Inc. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
1. The short version
Your goals, your history, and your location stay on your phone. What leaves your device is the minimum needed to identify a product and score it: usually a short block of text read from a label, not a photograph. Nothing we store about a product is tied to you. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
2. What the app sends off your device, and when
Label scans
When you scan a packaged product, the app crops the image to the aiming frame shown on screen, so your surroundings are excluded from what is sent. Text recognition then runs on your device, turning the label into a small block of text. In most cases only that text leaves your phone, and in some cases nothing does: when a Nutrition Facts panel can be scored by arithmetic alone, the score is computed entirely on the device with no network request at all.
Meal photos and descriptions
When you photograph a plate of food or describe a meal in words, that image or text is sent to our AI provider so the food can be identified and scored. Please avoid capturing documents, screens, or other people in frame, since anything visible in a photo you send is part of what is transmitted.
Barcodes and product lookups
Barcode numbers are sent to product databases to look up nutrition data. A barcode identifies a product, not a person.
Recipes
When you share a recipe link into the app, the page address and its published content are used to import the ingredients, steps, and nutrition information.
3. Our AI provider
Text and, for meal photos, images are processed by OpenAI to identify food and apply our scoring rubric. We send the content needed for that request and no account identifier of yours. We use OpenAI's business API, under terms which provide that content sent through it is not used to train their models.
4. What stays on your device
- Your health goals and the personalization built from them. Personal scores are calculated on the phone by plain arithmetic and are never written to any shared database.
- Your location. Location, if you grant it, is used to find food near you. The matching runs on your device, and we do not store your location on our servers.
- Photographs you take, which are stored locally so your saved items have a picture.
5. The shared product database
When a product is read from its label, the resulting nutrition facts are saved to a shared database so that everyone who scans that product gets the same verified answer. These entries contain product information only. They carry no account identity, no device identifier, and nothing about the person who scanned the item. The same is true for the shared recipe nutrition records.
6. Your own saved data
Your saved scans, lists, recipes, and settings sync through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. That data lives in your iCloud, under your Apple Account, and we cannot browse it. Deleting the app and its iCloud data removes it.
7. Circles
If you use Circles to share finds with people you invite, the items and the display name you choose are visible to the people in that circle. Only share what you are comfortable with them seeing.
8. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not run third-party ad networks in the app.
- We do not build advertising profiles or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
9. This website
This site is a set of plain pages. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs, which may include IP addresses, for security and reliability.
10. Your choices and your rights
You can turn off camera, photo library, and location access at any time in the iPhone Settings app, and the parts of the app that need them will simply stop asking. You can delete your saved data by deleting the app and clearing its iCloud storage.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. Because the shared product database holds no identity, most requests concern data that is already only on your own device or in your own iCloud. Write to us and we will help.
11. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
